A disturbing altercation at a paediatric hospital in Kalyan East has taken a fresh twist after newly surfaced CCTV footage revealed that the receptionist, who was brutally assaulted by a man earlier this week, had first slapped his sister-in-law moments before the attack.
The incident, which occurred on Monday evening at Shree Bal Chikitsalaya in Nandivali, initially went viral after a video showed Gokul Jha kicking the receptionist, dragging her by her hair and slamming her to the ground. However, a second clip shows the events leading up to the assault, painting a more complex picture of the confrontation, NDTV reported.
I am Satisfied 😂.. A less educated woman in saree stayed calm even after getting slapped. But that sukkhi bombil over-educated chapri girl turned violent. Where is patient service by hospital staff bro??#Kalyan#receptionistpic.twitter.com/zxmlxl5zXH— M A 𝕏 A L U 🗡️ (@YourMasalu) July 23, 2025
In the fresh footage, Jha - accompanied by his sister-in-law, another woman, a man and a child - is seen arguing with the receptionist. At one point, he moves aggressively towards her but is pulled back by his sister-in-law, who urges him to leave the reception area. The argument continues and Jha attempts to approach the receptionist again before being pushed away by the other woman in his group.
As Jha and his companions reluctantly walk out, the receptionist steps away from her desk, throws papers on the floor and approaches the sister-in-law, who remains in the reception area. She then slaps the woman while shouting and gesturing towards Jha.
Seconds later, another man from Jha’s group points a finger at the receptionist and Jha storms back in, kicking her violently and throwing her to the ground before being dragged away by others. The visibly shaken receptionist was later helped to a chair by hospital staff.
The receptionist is currently undergoing treatment for her injuries. Meanwhile, Jha, who allegedly tried to evade arrest by altering his appearance, was taken into custody on Tuesday, as per NDTV. On Wednesday, the Kalyan District and Sessions court remanded him in police custody for two days.
The case has drawn political attention, with Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) leader Avinash Jadhav demanding strict action, stating, "A migrant has beaten up a Marathi woman. We urge the police to take stringent action against him and arrest him,” as cited by NDTV. BJP state president Ravindra Chavan also met Deputy Commissioner of Police Atul Zende, pressing for swift justice, while Shiv Sena and MNS local leaders echoed similar demands.
