In a chilling and brutal crime that has shaken Karnataka's Tumakuru district, a dentist and two accomplices have been arrested for allegedly murdering his mother-in-law and dismembering her body into 19 parts. The police have identified the victim as Lakshmi Devi, 42 and the accused as Dr Ramachandrappa S, her son-in-law, HT reported.
The horrifying case came to light after locals discovered multiple plastic bags stuffed with human body parts along a roadside in Kolala village, Koratagere, Tumakuru. On August 7, passersby alerted the police to seven plastic covers containing severed body parts. A thorough search by the Koratagere police on August 8 led to the recovery of seven additional bags, including one with the victim’s severed head, which enabled authorities to confirm her identity as Lakshmi Devi.
According to a report by HT, following the discovery, the Superintendent of Police Ashok KV swiftly formed a special investigation team to track down the perpetrators. The probe culminated in the arrest of Dr Ramachandrappa and his two accomplices, Satish K N and Kiran K S, all residents of Tumakuru.
During interrogation, the accused confessed to the murder and admitted to dismembering the body in an attempt to obliterate evidence. They reportedly packed the body parts in plastic bags and disposed of them in various locations to evade detection.
Police said Dr Ramachandrappa allegedly killed Lakshmi Devi due to suspicions about her character, which he claimed caused him personal embarrassment. This suspicion reportedly drove him to take the extreme and violent step of killing his mother-in-law, HT reported.
The chilling case is regarded by law enforcement as one of the most brutal murders in recent memory in the region. Authorities continue their investigations as the accused await formal charges.
