In a video shared later, the woman recounted the incident, saying she had asked the driver several times to reduce the volume.

A cab driver, who was accused of misbehaving with a woman, abusing her and dropping her on a deserted road late in Gurugram in the evening, was arrested within hours of the incident, police said on Sunday.

The accused, identified as Pankaj, 22, a resident of Bahni Maharajpur in Rohtak, was arrested from Gurugram’s Sector 50 area after the woman called the police helpline. The cab involved in the incident was also seized. Police said the incident occurred on December 15, when the woman had booked a Rapido cab around 6 pm after leaving her office.

According to the complaint, the trouble began when the driver started playing loud music and refused to lower the volume despite repeated requests from the passenger.

In a video shared later, the woman recounted the incident, saying she had asked the driver several times to reduce the volume. “The third time, he snapped and said, ‘Is this your father’s car? Will you tell me what to do?’” she said. She added that the driver soon turned aggressive and threatened her. “He said, ‘Now I’ll show you,’ and started driving in a different direction. My hands were literally shaking,” she said.

The woman further alleged that the driver stopped the car on an unfamiliar stretch of road and forced her to get down. “He also got out and started looking at me with wrong intentions. I felt extremely unsafe,” she said.

A police officer said an argument broke out over the woman talking on the phone and asking the driver to lower the music volume, following which the driver committed the alleged offence. Based on the woman’s complaint, an FIR was registered at Sector 50 police station under Sections 77 (voyeurism) and 79 (insulting the modesty of a woman) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Further investigation is underway.
