A 12-year-old girl, influenced by South Korean youth stars she admired on social media, attempted to travel alone to the country in search of opportunities without telling her parents. However, Indore police intervened and safely reunited her with her family.
According to a report by The Times of India, the minor girl was found alone at Sarwate Bus Stand on September 19, planning to travel to South Korea. A bus driver spotted her wandering alone and alerted Chhoti Gwaltoli police.
"Acting swiftly, a police team reached the spot, brought the girl to the station, and questioned her. She revealed that she came to Indore without her parents’ knowledge and wanted to travel to South Korea in search of opportunities," Choti Gwaltoli police station incharge Sanju Kamble was quoted by TOI as saying.
As per the report, the girl, initially, claimed to belong to Khargone district, but when no missing report was found there, she later disclosed that her family recently moved to Mhow. Local contacts help cops reunite girl with parents.
Further checks revealed that the girl’s family lived in the Badgonda police station area, though no missing complaint had been filed. With the help of local intelligence and contacts, police eventually located her parents and reunited her with them safely.
The operation was part of an ongoing initiative where police maintain regular contact with bus and auto drivers, hotel operators, and other stakeholders to immediately report any suspicious activity involving minors. Police officials emphasised the importance of public cooperation in such cases and praised the timely information provided by the bus driver.
