IMD issues cold wave warning for 7 Jharkhand districts till Nov 15

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a cold wave warning on Wednesday for seven Jharkhand districts till November 15.

The meteorological department issued a 'yellow' alert (be aware) for seven districts - Garhwa, Palamu, Chatra, Latehar, Lohardaga, Gumla, and Simdega from November 12 to 15.

The Ranchi IMD Deputy-Director and Weather Scientist Abhishek Anand said, "The seven districts are likely to experience a dip of 2-3 degrees Celsius in minimum temperatures, taking the temperatures below 10 degrees Celsius during the next three days." In the past 24 hours, some districts recorded minimum temperatures below 10 degrees Celsius, he said.

Ranchi recorded a minimum temperature of 10.7 degrees Celsius on Wednesday, a dip of 3 degrees Celsius from normal temperature.

Gumla was the coldest place in the state at 7.2 degrees Celsius, followed by Khunti at 8.1 degrees Celsius and Lohardaga at 9.1 degrees Celsius.

Jamshedpur recorded 12.4 degrees Celsius, Daltonganj recorded 10.3 degrees Celsius, and Chaibasa recorded a minimum temperature of 14.4 degrees Celsius, the bulletin said.

Dense fog is expected in the early morning hours, affecting visibility, it said, urging people to remain cautious.
