A Bengaluru woman’s social media post about the construction of the Ejipura flyover has gone viral. The post captures the city’s frustration over delayed infrastructure projects.
Sharing her thoughts on X (formerly Twitter), she wrote, “No joke I moved to Koramangala pregnant, and my son is now almost eight. They’ve been building the flyover since before he was born, and he’s now in 2nd standard.”
Her post came as a reply to Bengaluru entrepreneur and author Varun Agarwal, who had humorously described the Ejipura flyover as a “historical monument.” Agarwal wrote, “Ejipura Flyover has finally resumed construction. A historic day not just for Bangalore but also for those of us who have grown up with this monument. Our forefathers began this centuries ago… There was even an episode on MythBusters claiming aliens built it.”
No joke I moved to Koramangala pregnant and my son is now almost 8 and they've been building the flyover since before he was born to now when he's in 2nd standard. 😵💫🤷♀️ https://t.co/xwja5jxciB— Sowmya (@sowmyarao_) October 14, 2025
The woman’s comment quickly went viral, with thousands of Bengaluru residents and netizens across India joining the conversation. Many shared similar frustrations and cracked jokes about how long the construction has dragged on.
One user wrote, “Looking forward to the grand opening when your grandchild is in 2nd standard.”
“Maybe your son’s wedding procession will still pass by the unfinished flyover, a true Bengaluru heritage site,” another joked.
Others compared the delay to similar cases in other cities, like Chennai’s Perambur bridge, which resumed construction after 15 years. Some users even shared how the city’s slow infrastructure projects have outlasted major milestones in their lives.
One user wrote, “They started building the airport metro line in 2010. I was 22 then. Now I am 37, and the line is not even 10% complete. Back in 2010 I passed out of college, now I have worked in 10 companies, established 2 companies myself, got married, and a dad now.”
The Ejipura flyover, aimed at easing traffic in Koramangala, has been under construction since 2017. Initially awarded to Simplex Infrastructure, the project saw only 42.8% completion before the contract was terminated in 2022. BSCPL Infrastructure Ltd took over in November 2023, with a new target to finish by March 2026.
