A 50-year-old woman was brutally murdered inside her own home in a gated community in Hyderabad on Wednesday, NDTV reported.

According to the police, the attackers tied her hands and feet, struck her with a pressure cooker, and slit her throat using a knife and scissors. After committing the heinous crime, the men looted her house, took a shower, changed their clothes, and fled, leaving behind blood-stained garments.

The deceased, Renu Agarwal lived with her husband and 26-year-old son on the 13th floor of Swan Lake Apartments in Cyberabad, an IT hub of Hyderabad. Mr Agarwal and his son left for their steel business around 10 am on Wednesday. By evening, when Renu did not answer their calls, her husband became concerned and returned home early to check on her.

The family called a plumber to help them enter through the balcony after they found the door locked. After entering the room, Renu’s lifeless body was discovered. The police were immediately informed, and an investigation was launched.

According to the police, the robbers stole nearly 40 grams of gold and cash amounting to Rs 1 lakh. The men even bathed in the house and left the scene with blood-stained clothes.

Investigators have identified two prime suspects, both domestic workers. One, Harsha, had recently been hired by the Agarwal family through a Kolkata-based manpower agency. The other, Roushan, worked for a neighbouring household on the 14th floor. CCTV footage shows the two entering the 13th floor and leaving around 5.02 pm.

Police suspect the men are now on the run and may be heading to Ranchi. They were seen escaping on a two-wheeler that belonged to Roushan’s employer.
