The capital city of Telangana, Hyderabad is getting ready to experience something truly unique, with its very own artificial beach. The Telangana government has unveiled a massive project worth Rs 225 crore to create a beach-like experience right in the heart of the state, New18 reported. Upon completion , Telangana will be the only state in the country with an artificial beach.
Spread across 35 acres at Kotwal Guda on the city’s outskirts, the project is expected to begin construction in December under a public-private partnership model. The aim is to develop a complete entertainment and adventure hub where families can spend entire weekends without leaving the city.
What will Hyderabad’s artificial beach offer?
The project has been designed as a multi-sensory getaway. At its centre will be a man-made lake with sandy shores that recreate the feeling of being on a real beach. Visitors can expect floating villas, luxury hotels, adventure sports facilities, and wave pools as well. For families and children, there will be play zones, cycling tracks, landscaped parks, food courts, theatres and decorative fountains. The vision is to combine leisure, fun, and adventure in one single destination, according to the report.
Why Kotwal Guda?
Kotwal Guda was chosen because of its excellent connectivity to the Outer Ring Road and the availability of ample open space for large-scale development. The government has also stressed that the project will be eco-friendly, with strict attention to sustainable construction methods to reduce environmental impact.
According to Telangana State Tourism Development Corporation (TSTDC) Chairman Patel Ramesh Reddy, the Detailed Project Report (DPR) is already ready, and construction will begin soon. He also mentioned that the government is looking to attract international investors beyond the initial Rs 225 crore investment. Telangana’s overall tourism potential is estimated to be over Rs 15,000 crore, and this artificial beach is expected to become one of its flagship attractions.
"We came across the Paris Plages project online, where they turned a river into an artificial beach in a landlocked area. As Hyderabad is also a landlocked city, we will be following a similar model to Paris Plages to create the beach here," TOI quoted Valluru Kranthi, MD of TSTDC as saying.
