To handle the heavy rush of passengers during the Holi festival, the Central Railway (CR) has announced 186 special train services. These trains will operate on several major routes to meet the rising travel demand during the festive season. Ticket bookings for these special services began on February 18 at all computerised reservation centres and on the official IRCTC website.

In a statement, CR’s Chief Public Relations Officer Dr Swapnil Nila said that bookings for travel beyond the Advance Reservation Period (ARP) will open on the relevant future ARP dates.

Tickets for unreserved coaches, available at normal charges, can be booked through the UTS system. Passengers can also use the RailOne mobile application to book their tickets conveniently.

According to Central Railway, these special services will run between Mumbai and destinations such as Nagpur, Sawantwadi Road, Banaras, Gorakhpur, Samastipur and Danapur. Additional trains will also operate between Pune and Nagpur, Hazrat Nizamuddin and Danapur to clear the extra passenger rush. Out of the total 186 services, 94 will run as Holi Special Trains and 92 as other Special Trains, the railway zone said.
