Heavy rains have lashed several parts of Mumbai as pre-monsoon caused flooding in several areas. Yellow and orange alerts have been issued for several places as normal life has been disrupted due to rains.
Gusty winds and thunderstorms on Tuesday evening caused severe waterlogging in areas of Mumbai. Visuals showed how life reeled under the wreck that was caused by the rains.

Hiranandani Gardens in Mumbai's Powai saw widespread damage as trees fell flat after gusty winds brought them down. Meanwhile, the Andheri Subway was heavily flooded. Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation was forced to deploy drainage machine, given the harsh weather.

Areas near Jalvayu Complex also reported a tree falling incident, following which, the authorities asked the commuters to follow alternate routes to ensure their safety in rains.

Heavy rainfall was reported in Mira-Bhayandar around 7:30 pm and was followed by thunderstorms and lightning. Rainfall also caused problems with electricity.
The Regional Meteorological Centre in Mumbai has issued a warning about a possible intensification of rainfall starting Wednesday, linked to a developing cyclonic circulation over the east-central Arabian Sea, near the Karnataka coast. A low-pressure system is expected to form around May 22 and may track northward, potentially leading to heavier showers across the region.
According to IMD official Shubhangi Bhute, several areas in Maharashtra—including South Konkan, South Central Maharashtra, and Mumbai—could be impacted. She cautioned that these regions may experience gusty winds ranging from 30 to 40 kmph, accompanied by intense rainfall, as reported by NDTV.
