The India Meteorological Department (IMD) Hyderabad has issued a heavy to very heavy rainfall warning for several districts of Telangana for the next three days, indicating 115 mm to 205 mm of rain, Telangana Today reported.
According to the IMD, heavy rainfall that will bring 65 mm to 115 mm of rain is also very likely across the districts.
While, the very heavy rainfall warning, i.e., orange alert, has been issued for northern parts of Telangana, including Adilabad, Kumram Bheem Asifabad, Mancherial, Nirmal and Nizamabad, the heavy rainfall alert has been issued to Jagtial, Rajanna Sircilla, Karimnagar, Peddapalli, Jayashankar Bhupalapally, Medak and Kamareddy districts, the report added.
As per the report, Hyderabad and its surrounding districts, including Medchal-Malkajgiri, are expected to witness thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds. The entire week, however, will continue to remain overcast with sporadic spells of thundershowers, lightning, and gusty winds of 30 to 40 kmph, the Hyderabad MET department said in its Monday evening forecast.
The report added that the weather department has urged people to take precautions as very heavy rainfall could lead to massive flooding in low-lying areas. The MET has also urged farmers to take measures to protect their crops from excessive moisture.
