Heavy downpour causes chaos in Bengaluru, man killed as tree falls on vehicle

Bengaluru received rainfall on Thursday evening

Bengaluru witnessed chaos as heavy rainfall lashed the city on Thursday evening, marking the start of pre-monsoon showers. This came after the India Meteorological Department (IMD)'s warning of intense rainfall across Bengaluru and various parts of Karnataka throughout the summer.

One person was killed after a tree fell on his vehicle during incessant rainfall in Bengaluru. The 45-year-old auto-driver died when the tree fell on his vehicle. He has been identified as Mahesh and is a resident of Ittamadu. According to reports, Mahesh had parked his auto near a bus stop on Kathriguppe Main Road around 7:30 pm to take shelter from the rain.

Bengaluru also witnessed severe waterlogging as a result of heavy rainfall. The weather sent social media into a frenzy, with a lot of social media users complaining how the city turns into a river every time it rains for more than 10 minutes.

The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) said that it has deployed teams to clear clogged roads. The civic body addressed complaints about flooding near Outer Ring Road. “Water logging has been cleared near HSR Layout by the Bommanahalli zonal control room team," it said.

Just like Bengaluru, Delhi also received heavy rainfall and thunderstorms on Friday morning. Several areas of the national capital experienced waterlogging and over 100 flights were diverted.
