Popular Haryanvi singer Fazilpuria, whose real name is Rahul Yadav, had a narrow escape after unidentified assailants opened fire at him near Badshahpur, on the outskirts of Gurugram, on Monday, News18 reported.

According to the report, Fazilpuria was inside the vehicle and escaped without any injuries, even as multiple gunshots were fired at the car.

As per News18, the attackers fled the scene immediately after the shooting. No one has been arrested yet, but the police have launched an investigation. CCTV footage is being reviewed, and authorities are collecting other evidence to track down the culprits.

Who is Fazilpuria?

Fazilpuria, originally from Fazilpur village near Gurugram, rose to national fame with his hit song ‘Ladki Beautiful Kar Gayi Chull’ in 2014. The song gained even more popularity after it was featured in the 2016 Bollywood film Kapoor & Sons, starring Alia Bhatt, Sidharth Malhotra, and Fawad Khan.

He later released other popular tracks such as Jimmy Choo, Millionaire, and Party, continuing his rise in the Haryanvi and Punjabi music scenes.

In 2024, Fazilpuria decided to enter politics and contested the Lok Sabha elections from Gurugram on a Jannayak Janata Party (JJP) ticket. However, he lost to BJP’s Mukesh Sharma, who won the seat with a margin of over 1.22 lakh votes.

That same year, Fazilpuria found himself in legal trouble after being linked to a snake venom case. The Enforcement Directorate (ED) seized assets worth more than Rs 58 lakh from him and YouTuber Elvish Yadav under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA). Among the seized assets were three acres of land in Bijnor registered in Fazilpuria’s name and bank accounts linked to him, Elvish, and a media firm.

The case was tied to the use of snake venom at rave parties, which had raised concerns over illegal wildlife and financial activities. Fazilpuria was questioned multiple times by the ED in Lucknow, especially regarding a music video where a snake was allegedly featured.

He was even arrested on March 17, 2024, and placed in judicial custody for 14 days, before being granted bail five days later.
