A 28-year-old man was beaten, publicly paraded, and booked by police after a video of him allegedly feeding a chicken momo to a cow during a livestream went viral on social media, triggering anger among Bajrang Dal members, The Times of India reported.
As per the report, Ritik, who lives in New Colony, was arrested on charges of insulting religious sentiments, though he was later released on bail. The incident unfolded on Sunday while he was livestreaming on the Prism app.
The video shows Ritik accepting a challenge to finish a full plate of momos and asking the vendor to confirm that they contained chicken. When he couldn’t complete the challenge, he was seen offering the remaining momos to a cow standing nearby.
The clip spread widely online after being posted from the account of Chaman Khatana — who claims affiliation with the Bajrang Dal — and soon caught the attention of local cow-protection groups, the report added. On Monday, Khatana and several others went to Ritik’s home and began filming their confrontation with his father.
In one of the videos, Khatana is seen speaking to Ritik’s father, insisting on an apology and threatening violence against Ritik. The group then brings Ritik outside, marches him through the street along with his father, and questions him on camera about the incident. They also interrogate him about how he earns money to make livestream videos.
