Gurugram Police have launched a manhunt after unknown assailants allegedly fired at Haryanvi singer-rapper Rahul Fazilpuria on Monday evening. The Indian Express reported that a CCTV footage showed a Tata Punch car trailing Fazilpuria’s SUV shortly before the incident in Sector 71.

The 35-year-old artist, known for hits like Ladki Kar Gayi Chull, escaped unhurt by speeding away in his vehicle amid heavy traffic, according to his police complaint. The singer’s 2014 breakout track featured in the Bollywood film Kapoor and Sons.

Investigators recovered the suspected Tata Punch car and an empty bullet shell from the crime spot near Southern Peripheral Road. “The accused have also been spotted (on CCTV). We hope to (identify them) nab them soon,” a police spokesperson was cited by The Indian Express. An FIR for attempted murder has been filed at Badshahpur police station.

Fazilpuria, who contested the 2024 Lok Sabha polls from Gurgaon as a JJP candidate, has faced legal troubles before. Last year, he and YouTuber Elvish Yadav were arrested for allegedly using prohibited snakes and a pistol in a music video.

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) later questioned both in a money laundering probe linked to snake venom cases, seizing assets worth Rs 58 lakh.
