Ghaziabad Police have launched an investigation after a woman accused her husband and in-laws of harassment, claiming she was coerced into maintaining a figure resembling Bollywood actress Nora Fatehi.
According to a complaint filed at Muradnagar Police Station, the woman alleged that her husband, identified as Shivam Ujjwal, a government physical education teacher, forced her to exercise for three hours daily and withheld meals if she failed to comply. News18 reported that Ujjwal allegedly wanted his wife to “look like Nora Fatehi” and repeatedly taunted her about her physical appearance.
The marriage, solemnised on March 6, 2025 in Meerut, quickly soured, the complainant claimed. Despite describing herself as of normal height and fair complexion, she told police that both her husband and in-laws regularly mocked her looks. The woman further alleged that since the marriage, her husband would say his life was ruined by marrying her and that he could have got any beautiful girl like Nora Fatehi.
The woman also accused her husband of being “interested in other girls” and watching “objectionable pictures and videos” on social media. More disturbingly, she claimed that when she became pregnant, she was allegedly given abortion pills without her knowledge.
The allegations extend to dowry harassment. She told police that her in-laws demanded more money and valuables after marriage and began torturing her mentally and physically when the demands were not met. She said her family had already spent nearly Rs 76 lakh on the wedding, including jewellery worth Rs 16 lakh, a Mahindra Scorpio valued at Rs 24 lakh and Rs 10 lakh in cash.
Following the complaint, a case has been registered against Ujjwal, his mother, father and sister. Police confirmed that the matter is under investigation, with charges of dowry harassment, cruelty and forced abortion among those being examined.
