Four teenage boys have been booked for allegedly gang-raping a 14-year-old girl inside her flat in a housing society in Ghaziabad’s Kavi Nagar area on Sunday morning.

All four accused are minors, aged between 14 and 17. The police said two of the boys study in the same private school as the girl, while the other two are students at different institutions, TOI reported.

According to the FIR filed at Kavi Nagar police station, the incident took place around 11.30 am when the girl, a Class IX student, was alone at home. Her father had gone to work, and her mother had stepped out to a nearby market. One of the accused, a Class XI student, allegedly called the girl beforehand and informed her he was coming to visit. They had been in touch through Instagram and the father later told the police that the boy had been harassing his daughter online for the past two days, repeatedly insisting on meeting her.

“When she opened the door, she saw the prime accused with three other boys. They forcibly entered the flat, dragged her into a room, and took turns to assault her,” the FIR states, as reported by TOI.

Shortly after, the girl’s mother returned home and found the front door ajar. Inside, she saw the four boys with her daughter. She immediately locked the flat from inside, raised an alarm and phoned her husband.

Despite a call to the police emergency number 112, the boys managed to flee before officers arrived. “When some residents of the society came to our house and were talking to my wife about the incident, the boys managed to flee,” the father alleged, as quoted by TOI. He also accused the police of failing to act swiftly to detain the accused.

The FIR, registered around 11.30 pm on Sunday night, includes charges under Section 70(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), which pertains to gang rape, along with relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

ACP Kavi Nagar Bhaskar Verma confirmed that a police team has been formed to probe the incident. “We have sent the girl for a medical examination. The report is awaited. Her statement before a magistrate will be recorded soon. CCTV footage from the housing society is being scrutinised,” he told reporters, as reported by TOI.

According to The Indian Express, the school where the girl is enrolled stated that she had taken admission this year but had not attended any classes so far. “As far as we know, her family recently shifted to Ghaziabad. However, the girl has not attended school since she took admission. We have the records,” the school manager told TOI.

The prime accused, although not studying in the same school as the girl, had reportedly known her brother. Both the accused and the victim’s brother were classmates in another school until Class X, before discontinuing ahead of Class XI, the school management confirmed.

Sources told TOI that the main accused is a resident of the Wave City area. Investigators are also examining the digital trail, including social media conversations and call logs, which could establish how the assault was planned and whether there was premeditation.

The father alleged that his daughter had been subjected to frequent online threats whenever she resisted their advances. “The boys were harassing my daughter for a long time on social media platforms. Whenever she refused to talk, they threatened her,” he said.

No arrests had been made at the time of filing this report. Police said they were in the process of identifying and locating all four accused. All are believed to be known to the girl and the FIR currently names only one – the Class XI student with whom she had interacted online, TOI reported.

The girl is currently under medical observation, officials said and added that said further action would be taken after recording her statement.
