With thousands of Ganesha idols expected to be immersed at Halasuru Lake Kalyani between August 27 and 31 in Bengaluru, the city traffic police have issued a detailed advisory to manage the rush. Officials estimate that more than 30,000 idols from different parts of the city will be brought to the lake during the five-day festival.

To ensure that the large crowds and processions do not disrupt traffic movement, restrictions and diversions will be put in place every day from 2.00 pm until 4.00 am. The advisory, issued by Sahil Bagla, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic East), urges citizens to plan their travel in advance and help maintain order during the festivities.
According to the advisory, traffic on some key stretches will be modified. On Kensington Road, the two-way traffic between Kensington-Murphy Road Junction and MEG–Halasuru Lake will be changed to one-way. Vehicles will be allowed to move only from MEG towards Kensington-Murphy Road. Similarly, on Annaswamy Modaliyar Road, the usual two-way movement will be altered to regulate the flow towards Halasuru Lake.
The traffic police have also suggested alternative routes. Vehicles approaching from Kensington Road via MEG should turn right at Gurudwara Junction and continue through Gangadhara Chetty Road, Dickenson Road, St John’s Road, Sri Circle, Lavanya Theatre Junction, Naga Junction, and Promenade Road before reaching Wheelers Road and Halasuru Lake. Those coming from Thiruvallavar Statue Junction have been advised to use Gangadhara Chetty Road and RBNMS before taking Dickenson Road and following the same diversions towards the lake.
In addition, parking will be strictly prohibited in certain areas, including the main entrance of Halasuru Lake and Kalyani, as well as Kensington Road, Annaswamy Modaliyar Road, and Tank Road.
