A 40-year-old motorcyclist died after a collision with a Mahindra Thar in Dwarka’s Sector 9 late on Monday night, according to a TOI report. Police have since arrested the driver of the SUV.

The incident prompted a police response following a PCR call. A team dispatched to the location discovered both the motorcycle and the Mahindra Thar significantly damaged.

The motorcyclist, identified as Aashish Sharma, a resident of nearby Uttam Nagar, was swiftly transported to a hospital for treatment.

However, he was declared dead upon arrival. The car's occupants reportedly abandoned the vehicle at the scene and fled, leaving Sharma in a critical condition.

Following standard procedure, a Crime Scene Investigation (CSI) team conducted a detailed inspection of the accident site.

Both vehicles were seized for further examination as part of the ongoing investigation. Police registered a case and deployed teams to locate the suspect involved.

The breakthrough came through technical surveillance, which was used to trace the Thar to its owner in Gurgaon. Subsequent inquiries enabled officers to identify the driver, a man in his early thirties from Dwarka, who was then taken into custody.

Police sources reportedly stated that a post-mortem was conducted on Sharma's body at Deendayal Hospital, following which his remains were released to his family on Tuesday evening.

This fatal incident marks the latest in a series of serious accidents involving the Mahindra Thar model in the national capital region.

As previously reported, last month a 45-year-old man was killed after being struck by a speeding Thar, allegedly driven by an intoxicated driver, in Rajendra Nagar.

Furthermore, in August, a Thar mounted a footpath in the Chanakyapuri area, resulting in the death of one pedestrian and critical injuries to another. In a separate August incident, a 40-year-old contractor riding a motorcycle died after being hit by the same model of vehicle.
