ED investigates wolfdog purchase by Bengaluru man

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has initiated a probe into Bengaluru resident S Satish, after he claimed that he spent around Rs 50 crore on a rare breed of "wolfdog".

Satish said that he purchased the rare breed Cadabomb Okami for Rs 50 crore. The pictures quickly went viral, sparking widespread curiosity, and many labelled him a high-end exotic dog breeder. Soon after, complaints were filed with the ED, alleging possible hawala transactions or illicit money flow behind the supposed purchase.

A team of ED raided his residence on Thursday to investigate any possible corruption or violation of the Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA).

During the raid, the ED team examined Satish's bank accounts but found no such transactions around the time he reportedly purchased the dog. This raised suspicions about the possibility of hawala transactions being used for payment, NDTV reported.

According to the report, the unique dog is a cross between a wolf and a Caucasian Shepherd and is believed to be the first of its kind. It is also considered to be one of the world's most expensive dogs.

"I spent 5.7 million dollars on buying this pup because I am fond of dogs and like to own unique dogs and introduce them to India," The Sun quoted Satish as saying.

The dog, born in the United States, is just eight months old and weighs over five kilograms. It eats 3 kg of raw meat daily. According to the American Kennel Club, the dog is known for its protective instincts and intelligence. It is described as a guardian breed that "should never be underestimated."

According to the report, Satish informed that he makes money by showing off his "su-paw-star" dogs to people, raking in anywhere from 2,800 dollars for 30 minutes to 11,700 dollars for five hours.

"I spend money on these dogs because they are rare. Besides, I get enough money because people are always curious to see them. They take selfies and pictures. My dog and I get more attention than an actor at a movie screening. We both are crowd-pullers," he explained.
