A light drizzle is possible in parts of Delhi on Sunday. However, rainfall activity is expected to significantly decrease starting Monday. The city faced another hot and humid day on Saturday with the heat index reaching 40.8°C by 2.30pm.
Delhi recorded a maximum temperature of 35.9°C on Saturday — two degrees above normal and the highest so far this month. The relative humidity ranged between 48% and 87%, while the minimum temperature settled at 25.2°C.
"There is a possibility of very light rain on Sunday with the city experiencing a partly cloudy sky," a Met official was quoted by The Times of India as saying, adding that rain activity will see a drop from September 15 till September 19.
The maximum temperature over the next few days is expected to go up to 35°C with the heat index on the higher side. No colour-coded warning has been issued for the next few days. The monsoon's average withdrawal from the city is September 25.
This year so far, the city logged 850.8 mm of rainfall as opposed to the month's normal of 640.4 mm. The city has already witnessed excess rainfall this season.
Meanwhile, the air quality remained in the ‘moderate' category, with the AQI at 109 on Saturday as against 108 a day earlier. It is likely to remain in the same range over the next few days, according to the air quality early warning system, the forecasting body under the ministry of earth sciences.
