Residents of Delhi can expect a warm and damp day on Thursday, July 17, as the city faces a 77% chance of rain alongside sticky humidity, according to a TOI report citing data from AQI.in. Daytime temperatures are predicted to peak at 34.5 degree Celsius, dropping to 28.1 degree Celsius at night, with patchy showers likely in the late afternoon.
The day started with gentle breezes and notable humidity, with the likelihood of more scattered showers by late afternoon. Forecasters cited mild winds sweeping through Delhi at speeds reaching approximately 21 km/h. The rain is expected to decrease by evening, creating favourable conditions for outdoor activities, TOI reported.
Humidity is poised to reach 62% during the course of the day, lending a slightly sticky feel to the air. The forecast sets the average temperature at around 30.6 degree Celsius, with visibility recorded at 9.6 kilometres and a low UV index rated at 1.7. Given these conditions, those venturing outside are advised to keep umbrellas or light raincoats close at hand, particularly for daytime outings. Light, breathable attire is also recommended.
Looking ahead, TOI notes that the period from Friday through Sunday will see fluctuating temperatures and shifting skies. Thursday, July 18, is expected to be warmer still at 36.5 degree Celsius under partly cloudy skies with no anticipated rain. The mercury will hover near similar levels - 35.8 degree Celsius on Friday and 36.9 degree Celsius on Saturday - with the dry spell set to break on Sunday, July 20, as moderate rainfall and an 89% chance of precipitation are predicted.
Monday, July 21, is likely to deliver the heaviest rainfall of the week, dropping temperatures to 29.3 degree Celsius. The TOI report highlights that “Monday’s heavy rainfall may cause waterlogging in certain areas, potentially affecting commuting conditions.” After this, the weather system is expected to settle into a mix of partly cloudy days with temperatures staying in the low 30s.
Delhiites, as per forecasting by AQI.in, are encouraged to plan their routines and commute in line with these evolving forecasts, especially as the city braces for potentially troublesome downpours early next week.
