A 35-year-old man accused of allegedly kidnapping and murdering a specially abled women was held after a brief encounter from Burari, east Delhi, News 18 reported.

The accused was identified as Rajpal, a resident of Etah in Uttar Pradesh. The crime took place on the intervening night of May 31 and June 1. The incident of kidnapping was caught on CCTV. After police began probe into the case, they scanned CCTV installed in the area.

CNN NEWS 18 has accessed the CCTV of the alleged kidnapping. In the footage, accused Rampal is clearly visible carrying the girl on his shoulders. Cops also recovered the pistol that was used by the accused to escape the police.

As per media reports, police received a PCR call in the early hours of Sunday from Madanpur Khadar Extension regarding a kidnapping incident. The woman was taken while she was sleeping on the terrace of her house with her parents.

Soon after, her body was recovered from an abandoned shanty on the same street. A police team who inspected the crime scene and surrounding areas, identified the accused with the help of residents.

The body was transferred to AIIMS-Delhi for a post-mortem. Preliminary findings pointed to asphyxia due to strangulation as the probable cause of death, though the final autopsy report is awaited.
