Delhi MCD bypoll results 2025: BJP triumphs in 7 of 12 wards - Full list of winners

The bypoll results are viewed as a critical mid-term indicator of political sentiment in Delhi, coming nearly three years after the AAP secured a majority in the 2022 civic polls.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has reinforced its control over the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD), securing seven of the 12 wards contested in closely watched by-elections, results for which were declared on Wednesday.

The polls, held on November 30, were necessitated after sitting councillors vacated their seats upon being elected to the Delhi Assembly or the Parliament.

The BJP’s decisive performance saw it retain its dominance in the capital’s civic body, while the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) won three seats. The Congress and the All India Forward Bloc (AIFB) each secured a single ward, according to official data from the State Election Commission, Delhi.

The electoral exercise, conducted across 10 counting centres with stringent security, saw a voter turnout of 38.51 per cent. This figure marked a noticeable decline from the 50.47 per cent participation recorded during the full MCD elections in 2022.

The state election commission reported that nearly 1,800 Delhi Police personnel and 10 companies of paramilitary forces were deployed to secure strong rooms containing EVMs, which were under constant CCTV surveillance and to manage the counting process.

Full List Of Bypoll Winners

The results as declared by the State Election Commission:

Bharatiya Janata Party (7 seats):

* Shalimar Bagh B: Anita Jain

* Dwarka B: Manisha Devi

* Vinod Nagar: Sarla Choudhry

* Greater Kailash: Anjum Mandal

* Dichaon Kalan: Rekha Rani

* Chandni Chowk: Suman Kumar Gupta

Aam Aadmi Party (3 seats):

* Dakhshin Puri: Ram Swaroop Kanojia

* Mundka: Anil

* Naraina: Rajan Arora

Indian National Congress (1 seat):

* Sangam Vihar: Suresh Choudhry

All India Forward Bloc (1 seat):

* Chandani Mahal: Mohd. Imran

Of the 12 contested wards, nine were previously held by the BJP and three by the AAP, making the BJP’s retention of seven a significant holding action. The Congress victory in Sangam Vihar and the AIFB’s win in Chandani Mahal provided the only breaks in what was largely a contest between the two main rivals.

The bypoll results are viewed as a critical mid-term indicator of political sentiment in Delhi, coming nearly three years after the AAP secured a majority in the 2022 civic polls. The BJP’s performance suggests a consolidated base in several key municipal wards, setting the stage for the next full civic battle.
