An 18-year-old medical student has accused her friend of raping her a hotel room in northwest Delhi’s Adarsh Nagar after spiking her drink at a gathering last month.
According to media reports, the woman, in her complaint, alleged that her friend lured her to the hotel under the pretext of friendship, where he allegedly drugged her, sexually assaulted her, and recorded the crime. She said the man, identified as Amanpreet, then used the videos and photos to blackmail and threaten her.
India Today reported that the student is originally from Jind, Haryana, and resides at a Dr. Baba Saheb Ambedkar Medical College hostel in Delhi’s Adarsh Nagar.
As per the report, the incident took place on September 9 at Hotel Apple and recently came to light after the woman filed a complaint. In her complaint, the 18-year-old also claimed that the accused and his friends administered intoxicants and wrongfully confined her in the hotel premises.
In addition to the sexual assault and blackmail, the student alleged that the accused repeatedly forced her to accompany him and subjected her to continuous intimidation and harassment.
Following her complaint, a case under Section 64(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (punishment for rape) was registered at the Adarsh Nagar police station on Friday.
The police are currently searching for the suspects as all the accused have absconded. The suspect was reportedly preparing for competitive exams, the TOI report stated. No arrests have been made so far and a hunt is on the nab the accused.
