A 33-year-old woman was allegedly killed by her boyfriend in a hotel room in Faridabad. The deceased was identified as Shibba, a resident of Mohan Baba Nagar in Badarpur, Delhi. She worked as an insurance advisor with a private bank and was found strangled by the police team.
According to News18, the accused, Deepak, a resident of the same neighbourhood in Delhi, has admitted to killing his girlfriend Shibba, claiming religious differences and pressure to marry as the motive.
According to police, the murder took place on July 24 inside a hotel in IP Colony under Sector-31 police station. Shibba told her family she was heading to the office as usual. Later in the day, she even called her mother to ask about lunch. But by nightfall, she hadn’t returned. Her phone rang unanswered through the night, the report added.
On July 25, hotel staff alerted police after the room remained locked well past checkout time. When they entered, they found Shibba’s body on the bed, with marks on her neck, the report added.
Security footage confirmed that Shibba had checked in with a man on July 24. The footage showed him leaving alone that evening.
The case was handed over to Crime Branch DLF, which tracked Deepak’s location through his mobile phone. He was arrested from Delhi’s Nizamuddin area and has since been remanded to police custody for two days.
“During interrogation, the accused confessed that he killed the woman because she was pressuring him for marriage," police spokesperson Yashpal was quoted by News18 as saying. “He also stated that since she was Muslim, he did not want to continue the relationship," he added.
Deepak, who worked as an online seller of clothes, told investigators that their relationship had started about ten years ago and was initially cordial. Over time, he claimed, differences began to emerge, particularly over marriage.
Shibba’s mother, Razia, in her complaint, told the police that Deepak lured her daughter to the hotel and killed her. Shibba’s uncle, Riyazuddin, said Shibba had chosen not to marry so she could take care of her widowed mother. Her father passed away two decades ago. She was the second of three sisters; both her siblings are married.
A case was registered, and police say they are now focusing on piecing together the final details of what led to the murder.
