The Delhi Airport released an advisory on Monday urging travellers to plan their journeys carefully amid sudden weather fluctuations and recent heavy rains.
The advisory comes in response to the weather-related disruptions witnessed on Sunday, which saw light to moderate rainfall accompanied by strong winds that hampered road traffic across the city, TOI reported.
To avoid delays and traffic congestion, passengers have been advised to consider alternative transport options such as the Delhi Metro and to remain in close communication with their respective airlines for real-time updates.

In its statement, the Delhi airport emphasised that ground teams are actively collaborating with relevant authorities to minimise inconvenience and maintain a smooth travel experience for passengers.
“Our on-ground teams are working diligently with all stakeholders to ensure your journey remains hassle-free. Passengers are advised to consider alternative modes of transport, including the Delhi Metro, to reach the airport and avoid potential delays,” the Delhi airport said in the advisory.
Delhi-NCR witnessed intense weather conditions over the weekend, with winds reaching up to 57 kmph in certain areas. While Monday’s forecast predicts continued light to moderate rain, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has indicated that scattered rainfall is likely to persist throughout this week. No colour-coded weather alerts have been issued for the days ahead.
According to rainfall data collected between 5.30 pm and 8.30 pm on Sunday, Safdarjung recorded 10.1 mm of rain, Pragati Maidan 13.6 mm, Pusa 10 mm, and Janakpuri 0.5 mm. These showers were accompanied by significant wind activity, with peak gusts reported at 57 kmph in Pragati Maidan, 55 kmph in Palam, and 37 kmph in Mayur Vihar.
IMD scientist Krishna Kumar Mishra attributed the showers to a combination of the monsoon trough lying south of Delhi, an active western disturbance and a low-pressure system over northwest Madhya Pradesh, according to the TOI report.
The rain over recent days has significantly improved Delhi’s monsoon rainfall status. The city has received 117.8 mm of rainfall between June 1 and July 12, just slightly below the normal average of 126.3 mm.
While southwest Delhi has seen ‘large excess’ rainfall, districts in the north and northwest continue to experience a significant shortfall. Six districts, including central, New Delhi, northeast, south, southeast, and west, have so far recorded rainfall within the ‘normal’ range.
On Sunday, Delhi's maximum temperature stood at 34.8 degrees Celsius, slightly below the seasonal average, while the minimum dipped to 25.1 degrees Celsius, two degrees below normal.
