CCTV footage that captured the exact moment of the powerful explosion near Delhi's Red Fort surfaced on Wednesday. The 15-second CCTV clip, which was recorded by a surveillance camera installed at the Red Fort crossing, showed busy traffic movements near the metro station before a sudden fireball engulfed the screen.
The blast, which occurred around 6.50 pm on Monday, appeared like a red balloon bursting, followed by chaos and panic as people run for cover. The i20 car, now suspected to be the source of the explosion, is seen tearing through the area.

The CCTV recording corroborated the time of the explosion that investigators established earlier.
The explosion came just hours after authorities arrested eight people, including three doctors, and seized 2,900 kg of explosives during the busting of a “white-collar” terror module linked to Jaish-e-Mohammed and Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind, operating across Kashmir, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh.
Among those arrested on Monday were Dr. Muzammil Ganaie and Dr. Shaheen Sayeed, both affiliated with Faridabad's Al Falah University, where authorities recovered 360 kg of ammonium nitrate.
Dr. Umar Nabi, who was driving the car that exploded near the Red Fort, was also associated with the same university. He is believed to have been killed in the blast.
According to a report by NDTV, the Hyundai i20 was packed with an unspecified quantity of ANFO — a powerful explosive made from ammonium nitrate and fuel oil. The bomb is suspected to have been detonated manually using a trigger, indicating a possible suicide attack.
As per the report, high-grade explosives were used in the blast, with one of the samples collected from the Delhi explosion site believed to be even more powerful than ammonium nitrate.
Meanwhile, the Delhi Police has been placed on high alert, with extensive checking drives underway across the city.
Police and paramilitary forces have been deployed in large numbers at all major entry and exit points of the capital, where vehicles are being thoroughly inspected as part of heightened security measures, officials said.
