Following the blast near Delhi’s Red Fort on Monday evening, airlines and security agencies across India have tightened safety measures.
In response, Akasa Air has issued an important travel advisory for all its passengers, asking them to reach the airport at least three hours before their scheduled departure time. The airline said this precaution is necessary because of the additional security checks now in place at airports nationwide.
Arriving early will help passengers complete all formalities on time and enjoy a smoother check-in and boarding experience.
“As per regulatory guidelines, all passengers will be required to undergo secondary security checks prior to boarding," Akasa Air said in its statement. It also reminded travellers that only one piece of hand baggage weighing up to 7 kg will be permitted in addition to their check-in luggage.
Travellers have been encouraged to complete their web check-in in advance through Akasa Air’s website or mobile app to save time at the terminal and reduce crowding at check-in counters.
Security has been strengthened at major airports, including those in Delhi, Mumbai, and Bengaluru. Airport authorities have increased surveillance and deployed more personnel to manage the heightened alert level. Officials have requested passengers to fully cooperate with the security staff, follow instructions carefully, and always carry a valid government-issued photo ID to enter the airport premises.
In Delhi, the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) has placed all its protected installations, such as Indira Gandhi International Airport, Delhi Metro stations, the Red Fort, and key government offices, on high alert.
Similar precautions have been taken in other major cities. Bengaluru Police Commissioner Seemant Kumar Singh said that strict surveillance is being maintained across public places such as railway stations, bus depots, metro stations, shopping malls, and other vital establishments.
