A strange incident shocked villagers in Madhya Pradesh’s Sagar district when a man, believed to be dead for almost six hours, suddenly stood up and declared he was alive. The incident took place in the Khurai rural police station area on Monday, NDTV reported.
The police officials got a call from the locals who spotted a man lying face down in the mud by the roadside between Dhanora and Bankhiriya villages.
The man had not moved for hours, leading villagers to assume he was dead. Soon, a crowd gathered at the spot, talking about the lifeless figure as police rushed to the spot.
Hukum Singh, the station in-charge of the Khurai rural police station, reached the site with his team and began the formalities. A hearse van was called, and preparations were made to lift the body.
As the police officials, with the help of the locals went to pick the body up, the man twitched and stood up. In a trembling voice he said, “Sahab, main zinda hoon” (Sir, I am alive).
The strange scene left both villagers and police speechless. Many rubbed their eyes in disbelief, while some even stepped back in fear.
When questioned, the man revealed he was heavily drunk. On his way home, he stopped to relieve himself, but in his intoxicated state, he lost balance and fell into the mud.
Unable to get up due to extreme drunkenness, he remained motionless for hours, giving the impression of being dead. His motorcycle was later found parked nearby.
Villagers said they had never witnessed such an incident. "We thought it was a corpse, but to see him suddenly get up and speak, it felt like a ghost story come alive," one onlooker was quoted by NDTV as saying. The police ensured the man was safely sent home.
