A Class 11 student from a private school in Madhya Pradesh’s Rewa district allegedly ended her life after leaving behind a note accusing her teacher of harassment, India Today reported, citing police on Friday.

According to Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Aarti Singh, the 17-year-old was found hanging at her home on November 16. A handwritten note recovered from her notebook has become a key part of the investigation.

In the note, the student wrote that her teacher held her hand while hitting her and dared her to try to open his tightly closed fist. She further alleged that the teacher would forcefully press a pen between her fingers, claiming it was a form of punishment.

She also accused the teacher of grabbing her hand casually while she was seated in class and making remarks about how cold his hand felt.

The family told police she behaved normally at home and showed no signs of distress. They allege she was subjected to harassment at school and have demanded a probe into her call records and issues related to her school.

ASP Singh said the police are investigating the case from all possible angles to determine what led the student to take the extreme step.
