Rescue teams search for missing YouTuber at Duduma waterfall in Odisha.

A major search operation is underway in Odisha for a 22-year-old YouTuber who was swept away by powerful currents while filming at the Duduma waterfall on Saturday afternoon. The missing man, Sagar Kundu from Berhampur, had been creating content at the popular but dangerous spot.

According to a TOI report, the incident occurred in the Machkund police limits. Kundu was reportedly live-streaming at the time.

Witnesses stated that he had jumped across rocks to position himself in the middle of the stream, ignoring repeated pleas from his friends to return to the bank as the water level began to rise.

His companions even attempted to throw a rope to pull him to safety, but their efforts were in vain. A sudden surge of water from the dam side then overwhelmed him, carrying him away in front of the horrified group around 4.30 pm.

A joint rescue team comprising the Odisha Disaster Rapid Action Force (ODRAF), fire services personnel from Lamataput and local police have been searching the area since the incident. As TOI reported, the operation resumed on Sunday morning with assistance from local villagers.

Madhusudan Bhoi, the Inspector-in-Charge of Machkund police station, provided an update. He confirmed that the only item recovered so far is a bag containing batteries and other equipment, which Kundu had reportedly thrown into the water moments before he was swept away.

The search continued on Monday but has so far failed to locate the missing YouTuber. Police have indicated that the rescue teams will intensify their efforts once operations resume, TOI reported.

Kundu had visited the waterfall with fellow content creator Abhijit Behera from Cuttack and other friends, having captured footage at several locations including drone shots prior to the tragedy.
