A 28-year-old woman from Bihar was arrested and later released on station bail after allegedly assaulting an autorickshaw driver with her slippers in Bengaluru’s Bellandur area. The incident, captured on video and widely shared online, has sparked public outrage and protests by pro-Kannada activists.

As per Indian Express, the altercation occurred on Saturday afternoon outside Centro Mall when Pankhuri Mishra, a software engineer residing in Green Glen Layout and her husband, riding a two-wheeler, allegedly brushed against the auto driven by Lokesh, 33. An argument ensued after Lokesh pointed out the collision, leading Mishra to allegedly strike him repeatedly with her footwear while he recorded the incident on his phone.

“Why are you taking video? Who gave you permission?” Mishra is heard demanding in the footage. “From whom do I need to take permission?” Lokesh retorts. The situation quickly escalated, with Mishra removing her slippers and striking him repeatedly, even daring him to keep filming.

According to police, Mishra claimed during questioning that Lokesh "did not behave properly", justifying her actions. She also stated she was pregnant and heading for a medical check-up at the time, though authorities have yet to verify this, as per TOI.

After the video went viral, Lokesh filed a formal complaint at Bellandur police station. The footage drew sharp reactions online, with many condemning the assault. Pro-Kannada activists staged protests outside the police station on Sunday, demanding action against Mishra and highlighting tensions between locals and migrants in the city.

However, in a surprising turn, Mishra was seen in another viral video falling at Lokesh’s feet and aplogising for the act. She said, "I love this city and its people," referring to Bengaluru.

Mishra was released after her statement was recorded, but police confirmed she may be summoned again as investigations continue. No charges have been formally pressed yet.
