The Bihar government has introduced its first-ever luxury Caravan buses to offer tourists a premium and comfortable travel experience. Launched by the state’s tourism department, these caravans promise a “hotel on wheels” feel, giving travellers a chance to explore popular destinations in a more relaxed and enjoyable way.
Each bus has been designed like a mobile hotel, complete with modern amenities to make long road journeys smoother and more convenient.
The caravans are fitted with sleeper berths, a mini-kitchen, private washrooms, LED televisions, Wi-Fi, and both hot and cold water facilities. To ensure safety, the buses also include CCTV cameras, fire alarms, GPS tracking, and automated door locks.
Built on a BharatBenz chassis with air suspension and toughened glass, the vehicle aims to offer a steady and comfortable ride to major tourist spots such as Bodhgaya, Nalanda, and Valmiki Nagar.
Officials say the service is intended to encourage families and groups to travel together, spend quality time, and even cook their own meals while on the move. The idea is to give tourists a homely yet luxurious experience during their journey.
Viral video shows inside look
A video that recently went viral on Instagram has given people a full inside tour of the caravan. In the clip, a vlogger begins by showing the comfortable reclining seats and a three-seater sofa that allow groups to relax during the trip. He then highlights a large LED TV, a sound system, and other entertainment options available onboard.
The video also reveals a fully functional mini-kitchen equipped with an induction cooktop, microwave, water filter, and refrigerator. Travellers can prepare their own meals, adding flexibility for families who prefer homemade food while travelling.
Next, the vlogger walks viewers through the compact washrooms and the sleeping area, designed to accommodate four people. The sleeping space includes a dressing table and two bunk beds on each side. Each bed also has its own TV, ensuring continuous entertainment for passengers.
Booking and fare details
The luxury caravans can be booked for both short and long-distance trips. For longer routes, the minimum distance requirement is 250 km, with a fare of around Rs 75 per km, depending on the location. In Patna, tourists can book the caravan for short city trips at Rs 11,000 for a 12-hour, 75 km ride. Full-day bookings are expected to cost about Rs 20,000.
These caravans will also operate on special tourism circuits such as the Valmiki Nagar Tiger Reserve Safari and the Bodhgaya–Nalanda route, making multi-stop travel easier.
Travellers can book the service through the Bihar State Tourism Development Corporation’s (BSTDC) official online platforms or at designated tourism offices.
