Three minor boys were detained by the Bengaluru police on Sunday night for allegedly pelting stones at a religious procession in west Bengaluru, triggering brief tension in the area, officials said.

The incident took place in Jagjeevan Ram Nagar when devotees from the local Om Shakti temple were pulling a chariot carrying a deity as part of a procession. According to the police, a complaint was received stating that some miscreants hurled stones at the chariot during the event, causing panic among the devotees.

A child suffered a head injury in the incident. A young girl was also allegedly hit on the head by a stone and was immediately shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment. Her condition was said to be stable.

Following the incident, several devotees gathered outside the Jagjeevan Ram Nagar police station and staged a protest, demanding strict action against those responsible. The protesters claimed that similar incidents had occurred in the past and insisted that a case be registered.

Tension prevailed in the area for some time as the crowd continued to demand justice. Senior police officers reached the spot and spoke to the protesters to calm the situation. Additional police personnel were deployed, and security was tightened to prevent any further trouble.

The Jagjeevan Ram Nagar police later registered a first information report (FIR) under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.

Confirming the development, Deputy Commissioner of Police (West) Yathish N said the three boys detained in connection with the case were aged between 14 and 15 years. He added that further investigation was underway to ascertain the full sequence of events, Deccan Herald reported.
