The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a heavy rainfall alert for Bengaluru from Wednesday till Sunday. A yellow alert has also been issued for these days.
Meanwhile, light showers greeted Bengaluru on Wednesday morning as rain clouds lingered over the city. The continued spell of rain has led to waterlogging in several low-lying areas, causing traffic snarls on major routes. Authorities have advised commuters to plan their travel in advance.
According to a report by Times Now, a solo weather update on social media predicted rain throughout the day, stating: "Massive LPA-type rainbands are active over South Andhra Pradesh, North Tamil Nadu, South Interior Karnataka, and Central Tamil Nadu. The LPA is moving inland. Strong rainbands are affecting areas north of Chennai and across Tamil Nadu, with weaker rainbands pushing into South Interior Karnataka. Rain likely in Bengaluru and Chennai. #BengaluruRains #BangaloreRains #KarnatakaRains #TNRains #ChennaiRains."
One social media user shared a video showing local streets soaked by the rain, noting: "NEM rainbands have reached Bengaluru. Drizzles to light, occasionally moderate, rain likely in the coming hours for the city. #BengaluruRains"
