Bengaluru has been placed on high alert following the deadly car explosion near Delhi’s Red Fort on Monday evening that killed nine people and injured several others. The city police have stepped up security checks across key locations and ordered all deputy commissioners of police (DCPs) to increase vigilance.

Bengaluru Police Commissioner Seemanth Kumar Singh said that strict surveillance and patrolling have been implemented throughout the city.

“We will sanitise abandoned vehicles across Bengaluru. Nakabandi has been enforced on major roads, and thorough frisking of vehicles and individuals will be carried out,” he was quoted by TOI as saying.

Security has been tightened at Kempegowda International Airport (KIA), Krantiveera Sangolli Rayanna (KSR) Railway Station, and the KSRTC and BMTC bus terminals in Majestic, all major transit points. Additional police teams have been deployed at Metro stations to monitor suspicious activity.

Hotels, PG accommodations, lodges, and public spaces across the city are being inspected. All DCPs and ACPs have been instructed to ensure continuous patrolling in their jurisdictions, especially in crowded markets and commercial zones. Anti-sabotage squads and bomb disposal units have been placed on standby to respond to any possible threats.

A senior DCP said surveillance will remain intensified through the night. “ACPs and inspectors have been told to stay alert and closely monitor public places, vehicles, and individuals showing unusual behavior. All senior officers will be out on night rounds to ensure citywide safety,” he added.

Nine people were killed and several injured after a high-intensity explosion ripped through a car with passengers on Monday evening near Delhi's Red Fort. The blast took place in a white Hyundai i20 car at 6.52 near the Red Fort Metro Station, leaving mangled bodies and wrecked cars scattered in the busy area.
