Bengaluru’s long-awaited Yellow Line officially welcomed the public on Monday, a day after Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated it on Sunday. Within hours, social media was buzzing with first-day impressions, as early commuters shared their excitement over the city’s newest metro corridor.

Stretching 19.143 km, the elevated Yellow Line links RV Road in Jayanagar to Bommasandra via Electronic City, offering a vital connection for South Bengaluru’s residents. For many, the ride was a good alternative to the city’s traffic snarls. Even with limited train frequency on its opening day, commuters praised the speed, comfort, and pollution-free journey.

According to a report by Hindustan Times, one early rider, who documented his journey in detail, described it as an “absolute delight.” Starting from RV Road at 6.30 am, he reached Bommasandra by 7.02 am, covering the entire stretch in just 32 minutes. He noted timings between major points. It took 9 to 10 minutes to reach Silk Board from RV Road, 12 minutes to reach Bommanahalli, 16 minutes for Kudlu Gate, and 18 minutes for Singasandra from RV Road.

Another commuter echoed the sentiment: “WOW! Sure, the frequency isn’t great right now, but the journey time, comfort, zero pollution, and freedom from traffic jams will impress you.”

However, not all feedback was rosy. Some noted that the frequency needs improvement. One passenger said, “Had to wait over 30 minutes for the next train, already crowded during non-peak hours. More trains are urgently needed.” Another mentioned waiting 15 minutes before switching to another mode of transport but planned to try the Yellow Line again for the return trip.

With 16 stations, including Ragigudda, Jayadeva Hospital, BTM Layout, Central Silk Board, Kudlu Gate, Hosa Road, and Electronic City, the Yellow Line is part of Namma Metro’s expanding Phase 2 network. A cheerful commuter summed up the mood: “My base station for the commute: Hosa Road Station. Hurray!”
