Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar on Monday announced that Bengaluru Metro Pink Line will be operational by May 2026.

In a post on 'X', Shivakumar said the 13.76 km stretch from Kalena Agrahara to Nagawara will ease traffic.

"Our commitment to better connectivity continues! Namma Metro Pink Line connecting Kalena Agrahara to Nagawara will be operational by May 2026. This 13.76 km stretch will ease traffic and strengthen north-south connectivity across Bengaluru," he added.

The Pink Line features a 2.5-km elevated stretch between Kalena Agrahara and Tavarekere (Swagath Cross Road) and a 13.76-km underground section, making it among the city’s most complex metro projects.

Six stations on Pink Line

  • Kalena Agrahara
  • Hulimavu
  • IIM-Bangalore
  • JP Nagar 4th Phase
  • Jayadeva
  • Tavarekere

Moreover, the Pink Line will also connect with several major corridors, allowing passengers to switch lines easily.

Important interchange stations include

  • Jayadeva (Yellow Line)
  • MG Road (Purple Line)
  • Dairy Circle (Red Line)
  • Nagawara (Blue Line), and
  • JP Nagar 4th Phase (Orange Line)

This is expected to significantly ease travel between the city’s central and southern areas.

Four train sets will be deployed to operate this line. The trains will be supplied by BEML, which is manufacturing 318 metro coaches for the Bengaluru Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) under a supply contract. Of these, 96 coaches—equivalent to 16 train sets—have been allocated for the Pink Line.

Once operational, the Pink Line will significantly improve connectivity across the city, offering commuters faster and more convenient travel. The project is reportedly progressing on schedule, with trial runs expected to begin ahead of the planned launch.
