A 38-year-old homemaker from Kamakshipalya was found hanging under suspicious circumstances in a hotel room in Agrahara Dasarahalli on Magadi Main Road in Bengaluru on Thursday night.

The woman, married to a financier and mother of two daughters, had been in an extramarital relationship with her married neighbour, an auditor, for the past few years, The Times of India reported citing police.

As per the report, the woman took this extreme step after she learnt that her lover was cheating on her. Couple of months ago, the woman had introduced one of her female friends to the auditor, they grew close and started an affair.

On October 2, the woman got information about her lover and her friend spending time in a hotel room in the city. Following this, she rented a room opposite to theirs in the same hotel. After confirming that the auditor and her female friend was in the room, she knocked on their door and demanded the auditor to open the door.

When he refused to open the door, she created a ruckus. He then called the hotel reception and complained about her. Disturbed over the incident, the woman returned to her room and ended her life. As per the report, the incident came to light after sometime when her lover went to her room to check on her.

A senior officer was quoted by TOI as saying that although the circumstantial evidence confirms it is a suicide, they are waiting for the postmortem report.

The auditor was questioned by Magadi Road police and was asked to appear again before the investigating officer when summoned. A case of suspicious death has been registered, and further investigation is underway.
