German social media sensation Younes Zarou had a dramatic encounter in Bengaluru on Wednesday as city police intervened to manage an unexpected crowd of thousands on Church Street. Zarou, known globally for his imaginative camera tricks and captivating illusion videos, found himself at the centre of chaos after an unannounced appearance in the city’s bustling entertainment district drew throngs of enthusiastic fans.

The incident comes just months after British pop star Ed Sheeran faced a similar situation at the same location, News18 noted, highlighting a growing trend of impromptu celebrity gatherings triggering concerns over public order.

On Wednesday, Zarou posted “Church Street, we are coming,” according to TOI, igniting a frenzy that quickly saw around 2,000 people converging at the spot. Police swiftly responded at approximately 4 pm after complaints poured into the control room. Officials moved in to safely extract Zarou from the swelling crowd. DCP Hakay, quoted in TOI, explained, "We brought Zarou safely out of the crowd and allowed him to leave the place. No case has been registered."

Visuals shared by Zarou on his Instagram stories captured the moments as authorities took him away, followed by a photo of him smiling alongside two Bengaluru police officers, evidence that the episode ended amicably. “I'm fine, it was too crowded, so the police took me away to protect me, thanks to the Indian police who are looking after me,” Zarou wrote on Instagram.

News18 highlighted that Zarou’s massive online following, over 21 million on Instagram and a staggering 25 million-plus on YouTube, mirrored the crowd he can attract offline as well.

Officials stated Zarou was relocated in a police vehicle and later dropped at another site after promising not to return to Church Street without the necessary permissions. Police cited public safety as the primary reason for dispersing the crowd, especially since Zarou’s visit had not been officially approved.

Zarou, who first shot to fame in 2019 for his inventive TikTok content and became a household name during the Covid-19 lockdown with his month-long #stayathome livestream, continues to wield enormous influence. His latest Bengaluru episode underlines the real-world impact of digital stardom, as highlighted in News18 report.
