Personnel from the State Disaster Response Force, along with Itanagar police and district administration officials, launched rescue operation.

Four labourers died while three others were injured after a landslide in Arunachal Pradesh's Itanagar caused a wall collapse at a construction site on Monday.

According to police, the incident occurred around 4 pm at Niti Vihar in Itanagar, when the wall collapsed following continuous rainfall, causing mud and debris to slide down and trap seven workers working at the construction site.

Personnel from the State Disaster Response Force, along with Itanagar police and district administration officials, launched rescue operation after being notified about the incident.

“Continuous rain made the mud dense and unstable, which made it difficult for rescue teams to determine the exact location of the trapped workers. Despite the challenges, the teams made every effort to recover them,” said Jummar Basar, Superintendent of Police for Itanagar Capital Region.

By the time rescue workers managed to pull out the seven labourers from the debris, four of them were declared dead by doctors.  The deceased have been identified as Choki Tasar (23), Godak Raja (30), Godak Tabin (35) and Ratan Barman (26).

The three others injured---Tatung Tajit, Choki Takio, and Hasinoor Ali---are undergoing treatment in hospital.
