India Yamaha Motor has launched its first electric scooter in the country, the EC-06, priced at Rs 1,67,600 (ex-showroom). The scooter will be available initially in select cities through the company's Blue Square showrooms and will be offered in a Bluish White colour option.

The EC-06 marks Yamaha's entry into India's electric two-wheeler market, which recorded retail sales of around 12,80,000 units in calendar year (CY) 2025. The company said that the new electric scooter reflects its broader focus on sustainability and carbon neutrality in India.

The EC-06 is positioned as a daily-use urban scooter. It comes with a certified range of 169km on a single charge, which the company says makes it suitable for everyday commuting. The scooter features a simple and upright design with a stable stance, aimed at improving ease of use and manoeuvrability in city traffic. Yamaha said the model has been developed in India with inputs from its global engineering teams.

Powering the EC-06 is an interior permanent magnet synchronous motor (IPMSM) paired with a fixed 4kWh battery. The scooter offers a top speed of 79kmph, maximum torque of 26Nm and peak power of 6.7kW. Yamaha said the battery supports home charging using a standard plug point and takes around eight hours for a full charge. The battery is covered under a warranty of three years or 30,000km. The motor and battery are IP67 rated, while other electronic components carry an IP65 rating.

The EC-06 offers three riding modes -- Eco, Standard and Power -- along with a Reverse Mode for easier parking in tight spaces. Suspension duties are handled by telescopic forks at the front and a rear coil spring setup. Braking is managed by 200mm disc brakes at both ends with a combi brake system.

The electric scooter features an LCD display that shows speed, battery status and riding modes. It also supports the Yamaha Motor Connect R app for connected features. LED headlamps and taillamps are standard. Under-seat storage capacity stands at 24.5 litres, allowing space for daily essentials.

Yamaha unveiled the EC-06 electric scooter along with the Aerox-E electric scooter in India in November 2025. The prices of the Yamaha Aerox-E are yet to be announced.
