  • Maruti Suzuki e Vitara EV priced lower than key rivals.
  • BaaS option lets buyers pay battery rent per km, lowering cost.
  • e Vitara offers up to 543km range with 61kWh battery pack.

The country's largest carmaker, Maruti Suzuki India, has taken a rather aggressive route when it comes to the Maruti Suzuki e Vitara price, be it with BaaS or without BaaS, pricing its maiden electric vehicle (EV) lower than its competitors.

Till now, the top carmakers, barring one, have shied away from introducing Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS). While Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles (TMPV) and Mahindra & Mahindra have not adopted this business model, JSW MG Motor India has utilised it in its products.

BaaS allows buyers to purchase an EV without the battery, significantly lowering the acquisition cost, and they have to pay for the battery usage on a per-kilometre subscription basis.
