British brand BSA Motorcycles is set to make its debut in India on August 15, 2024, with the launch of its flagship product the Gold Star 650, according to a company statement issued on August 12.
BSA was relaunched in 2021 and expanded its reach to 23 countries across Europe and the UK. The brand is owned by Classic Legends, whose portfolio also boasts of Jawa and Yezdi motorcycle brands.
“The Gold Star 650 is expected to capture the hearts of riders with its rich history, cultural significance, and cutting-edge technology, marking a new chapter in BSA's illustrious history,” the company said.
The firm used to be a popular brand in India during the pre-independence era, when BSA motorcycles were imported and often gifted to affluent individuals, particularly within the Parsi community, according to a company statement.
“These bikes have since become prized collectibles, with many preserved and restored by vintage collectors across the country,” it added.
BSA Motorcycles was established in 1861 as Birmingham Small Arms Company (BSA). As the name suggests, the firm originally produced firearms, before expanding into making motorcycles.
