Mercedes-Benz India today announced its highest-ever fiscal sales, retailing 19,363 cars in FY26, compared to 18,928 units in FY25, recording a growth of 2.3% year-on-year (y-o-y), driven by strong demand for top-end luxury vehicles, even as the entry-level segment declined during the year.

The company also reported a steady start to calendar year (CY) 2026, with first-quarter (January-March) sales rising 7.4% y-o-y to 5,131 units, up from 4,775 units in the same period last year.

Top-end segment drives growth

Mercedes-Benz said its top-end luxury segment grew 16% y-o-y in FY26 and contributed 27% to total sales.

The segment includes models such as the S-Class, Mercedes-Maybach range, EQS SUV and AMG portfolio. Demand remained strong, with waiting periods ranging from four months to up to one year for select models like the AMG G 63.

In Q1 CY26, the top-end segment recorded a higher growth of 25% y-o-y.

With battery electric vehicles (BEVs) gaining traction, such models accounted for 20% of top-end sales in FY26, while top-end BEVs priced above Rs 1.4 crore recorded an 85% y-o-y growth during the fiscal.

The EQS SUV emerged as the highest-selling BEV in Mercedes-Benz India's portfolio.

Core segment remains steady

The core segment comprising the C-Class and E-Class LWB sedans, and the GLC and GLE SUV, continued to contribute significantly to overall volumes.

The E-Class LWB remained the highest-selling luxury car in India, supported by sustained demand across markets and the availability of the E 450 variant.

Entry luxury declines

The entry luxury segment declined 18% in FY26 amid a market environment driven by price-led offerings and incentives.

Mercedes-Benz said it continues to focus on a value-oriented strategy with feature-rich offerings, prioritising customer aspiration over volume growth.

EV pipeline and future plans

The company will launch the new CLA BEV on April 24, marking the start of its next-generation software-defined electric car rollout in India.

Retail network expansion

Mercedes-Benz plans to open more than 20 new luxury outlets in India in CY26, backed by an investment of over Rs 450 crore from franchise partners.

The company will enter new markets such as Visakhapatnam and Varanasi, while expanding its presence in cities, including Pune and Goa.

Ahead of BMW

Mercedes-Benz India was ahead of rival BMW Group India (BMW + Mini) in FY26 as well as Q1 CY26.

BMW Group India retailed 18,655 units in FY26 and 4,567 units in Q1 CY26.

Audi India is yet to officially announce its retail sales for the period under review.
