Solar Eclipse 2025: When is the Second Surya Grahan - Date, Time, Visibility & will it be seen in India?

Surya Grahan 2025: In 2025, the solar eclipse (Surya Grahan) holds great significance in both astronomy and Hindu beliefs. A solar eclipse occurs when the Moon passes between the Earth and the Sun, partially or completely blocking sunlight. Many people are curious about when the next solar eclipse in 2025 will occur and whether it will be visible in India. Let’s explore all the important details like dates, timings, Sutak period, and precautions to take during this celestial event.

What is a Solar Eclipse?

A solar eclipse happens when the Moon aligns perfectly between the Sun and the Earth, casting a shadow on the Earth and blocking the Sun’s light. This rare event can be partial, total, or annular, depending on the alignment. In Hindu tradition, a solar eclipse is considered an important time for spiritual reflection and caution.

Solar Eclipse 2025: First and Last Surya Grahan

In 2025, there will be two partial solar eclipses, both attracting global attention.

1. First Solar Eclipse 2025 – March 29

Date: 29 March 2025
Type: Partial Solar Eclipse

Visibility: This eclipse will be visible from Europe, Asia, Africa, North and South America, including parts of the Atlantic and Arctic Oceans.
Visibility in India: No, this eclipse will not be visible in India.

2. Second Solar Eclipse 2025 – September 21

Date: 21 September 2025Type: Partial Solar Eclipse

Visibility: Viewable across Australia, Antarctica, and surrounding Pacific and Atlantic Ocean regions.
Visibility in India: This eclipse will not be visible in India either.

Will the Solar Eclipse 2025 Be Visible in India?

Unfortunately, both solar eclipses in 2025 will not be visible in India. Therefore, the Sutak period, which is considered an inauspicious time, will not be applicable for Indian regions.

Sutak Period During Solar Eclipse

In Vedic astrology, the Sutak period begins 12 hours before a solar eclipse and ends once the eclipse concludes. This period is observed only in places where the eclipse is visible. Since neither eclipse will be seen from India, the Sutak rules do not apply here in 2025.

What Happens During a Solar Eclipse?

The Sun's rays become partially or fully blocked, causing sudden darkness. Temperature may drop slightly, and some people may feel physical or emotional discomfort. In Hindu tradition, it’s believed that Rahu and Ketu, shadow planets, play a role in eclipses, making it a time of increased negative energy.

The Solar Eclipses in 2025 are astronomical events with spiritual significance in Hindu culture. While India won't witness either eclipse directly, understanding the timing, astrological impact, and precautions can help you stay informed and safe.
