Three policemen booked as Dalit youth goes missing

Bikaner, Feb 21 (PTI) Three policemen have been booked in connection with disappearance of a Dalit youth after he was allegedly detained by cops. A case was registered against Head Constable Shaukat and Constables Krishna Lal and Subhash of Chatargarh police station after villagers held protest yesterday demanding immediate steps to trace the youth, Kishan Lal, who villagers claimed was detained by police on Friday night along with his brother Naurang. The father of the missing boy alleged that his two sons were detained by police on Friday night. After one was released on bail the next day, he inquired about the second boy but the police claimed that he was not detained. The relatives alleged that the youth had been murdered and his body was thrown into a canal. Police have stepped up efforts to trace the missing boy and have engaged divers to carry out search operation in Indira Gandhi canal but no recovery has been made so far. PTI CORR SDA
