Mohali, Oct 19 (PTI) Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal today favoured granting of deemed university status to Army Institute of Law (AIL) and said he will extend his full support and cooperation to the management's proposal. Addressing the fourth convocation of the institute here, Badal said the proposal to grant deemed university status to the institute would go a long way in establishing it as one of the best institutions in the field of legal education. He exhorted students to play a pro-active role as upholders of law and justice in society and also to "bring justice to the downtrodden, the under-privileged and the poor sections of the society." Conceding to the request of the management of AIL for starting LL.M classes from the next academic session, the Chief Minister asked them to send a detailed proposal to him so that he could take up this matter with the Vice Chancellor of Punjabi University Patiala, with which the institute has been affiliated. As many as 100 students were awarded degrees. PTI VJ PMS
