Not following the herd: Google's upcoming Pixel phone will have a single camera

One more thing that Pixel will not come with is a headphone, once an important component of any mobile box

August 28, 2017 / 10:11 IST

A slew of mobiles are being released with dual camera and bezel-less or nearly bezel less screens but the upcoming phone from Google might buck the trend altogether.

A leaked picture of Pixel’s yet to be launched phone shows that it will have a single camera at the back and a stereo speaker, very much like its predecessors Pixel XL, said a report by Evan Blass in Venture Beat.

Google is coming with two phones under its flagship brand. The larger of the two devices is codenamed Taimen and the other Walleye.

HTC, one of the companies which manufactures the Pixel phones for Google, is going to make “only iterative design changes” as suggested by the California-headquartered company.

However, HTC is going to make only the smaller one of the two phones. The larger device will be manufactured by LG.

One more thing that Pixel will not come with is a headphone jack, which is still an important component of mobiles.

This time, though, Google has decided to follow the lead of Apple, HTC, Xiaomi and Lenovo.
